Irrigation Buying Guides by Application

Choose irrigation equipment according to the application, water source, operating pressure and flow, site conditions and the required level of control. These guides provide a starting point; large or hydraulically complex systems need a proper design.

Residential gardens

Prioritise accurate zoning, matched precipitation, overspray control and simple scheduling. Separate lawn sprinklers from drip or micro-irrigation because their run times and flow characteristics differ. Choose controllers with spare stations for practical expansion and consider weather or rain sensors.

Golf courses

Golf systems require hydraulic design, uniformity, a central-control strategy, service access, surge protection and model-specific rotor/nozzle data. Check full- and part-circle requirements, decoder compatibility, valve-in-head architecture, pressure regulation and the available watering window. Do not substitute rotor internals or decoder components without written compatibility data.

Sports fields

Prioritise head-to-head coverage, player safety, short watering windows and serviceability. Select purpose-built sports-field rotors where the radius, flow and trajectory require them. Account for wind and verify that the pump and mainline can support the highest-demand zone at the required operating pressure.

Agriculture

Start with crop demand, soil, block size, water quality and available pumping capacity. Filtration and pressure regulation are essential for reliable micro-irrigation. Confirm emitter spacing, discharge, allowable pressure variation, flushing requirements and chemical compatibility. Separate blocks where elevation or crop demand differs materially.
